Past SaxoCell events

BMBF Clusters4Future gathering in Bonn

For the second time, the BMBF invited all Clusters4Future winners to get together to exchange ideas and experiences and to also talk directly with representatives of BMBF and PTJ - this time in Bonn.

The successful clusters of the first round (SaxoCell, OTC Rostock, Wasserstoff, NeuroSys, ProxyDrugs, QSens and M Cube) were joined by winners of the second round (CNATM, curATime, ETOS, nanodiag BW, QVLS-iLabs, SEMECO and ThWIC),

SaxoCell was represented by Ulrike Köhl, Frank Buchholz, Maren Henneken and Stefanie Binder.

The meeting was organised by representatives of the BMBF and the PTJ and offered all delegates of the participating clusters a low-threshold discussion platform on important cluster strategic topics such as organisation, financing, IP regulation and success management.

Our SaxoCell team learned and networked a lot and would like to thank everyone for the open interaction!

SaxoCell Pitch Battle in Dresden

We had a blast! On June 22, five teams presented their start-up ideas at our meeting location Prezel 1724 in the heart of Dresden-Neustadt.

Participating teams were Stefanie Hartmann with MicroAcoustiX, Anthony Gavalas with ISLET poiesis, Barbara Ludwig with ISLET poiesis Kalyptos, Markus Badstübner with Cancilico and Jiri Eitler with SMART NK Therapeutics.

Five 10-minute pitches were followed by feedback from our jury members Dorit Teichmann, Martin Bornhäuser, Felix Lansing and Dejan Husman. In a relaxed atmosphere and after some refreshments, the jury cast their vote.

The winner of our 2023 Pitch Battle is the startup Cancilico developing state of the art AI-driven tools for cancer diagnostics and response prediciton, coming out of the university clinic Dresden's "AI in Cancer" research group. Congratulations!

We thank all participants and jury members for their enthusiasm and contributions to make this such a prolific event. We look forward to future competitions!

Long Night of Science in Leipzig

Located right at the entrance of Fraunhofer IZI, our table was the eye catcher for visitors on June 23. Our team had prepared some games and a button machine for creating little take-aways, and enjoyed lively discussions with members of the public.

We used a fishing game to explain the new CAR-T cell therapy and to illustrate how this therapy is just one of many examples of innovative cell and gene therapies, which are specifically tailored to each patient and, compared to conventional therapies, aim not only to reduce symptoms but to provide a lasting cure.

Visitors could also take a little quiz to find out which immune cell most closely matches their personal characteristics. Are they more helpful and reliable like a T-helper cell or voracious like a macrophage? With the help of our button machine, visitors could assemble their matching immune cell button and take it home.

For those of you who haven't been able to visit our stand in Leipzig, we will participate at the Science Night in Dresden at CRTD on June 30 and would be happy to see you there!
