Congratulations on outstanding publishing successes!

Once again, researchers from the faculty have succeeded in publishing articles in prestigious (A-ranked) journals. Prof. Dr. Peter Schäfer published an article in the Journal of Banking and Finance. Hendrik Scharf has succeeded in publishing a paper in the Journal of Industrial Ecology. Also ranked A is an article on biodiversity management written by Dr. Leyla Azizi and co-authors which has been published in the Auditing, Accounting, and Accountability Journal. Save the Date: Lecture and discussion with Prof. Dr. Martin Werding on January 22, 2026

Martin Werding is Professor of Social Policy and Public Finance at Ruhr University Bochum and a member of the German Council of Economic Experts. In his lecture, he will outline the general economic development and specifically address the consequences for the welfare state. In the subsequent discussion, Martin Werding will be available to answer questions from the audience.

Jacob Hamann-Lohmer appointed to University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen

Dr. Jacob Hamann-Lohmer has been appointed to the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen. Since September 1, 2025, he has been working there as a Professor of Digitalization and Supply Chain Management. After completing his doctorate at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Logistics at the faculty, Jacob Hamann-Lohmer held management positions at BIKE24 and Sunfire. In this interview, he talks about his career path.

Lucia Bellora-Bienengräber appointed to University Duisburg-Essen

On September 1, 2025, Lucia Bellora-Bienengräber took over the Chair of Managerial Accounting & Sustainability at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Lucia Bellora-Bienengräber successfully completed her doctorate at the faculty in 2013. This was followed by positions at the University of Hamburg and the University of Groningen.

Meeting of the DFG Project LaMaCe in Praha

From September 10-12, 2025, a project meeting was held at the Prague University of Economics and Business to discuss the various subprojects as part of the LaMaCe (Labor Markets in Central Europe in Challenging Times) project funded by the DFG and GACR, in which Prof. Dr. Kamila Cygan-Rehm (Chair of Quantitative Methods, esp. Econometrics) also took part.

ECSECO Best Paper Award for Professor Lars Hornuf and Daniel Vrankar

Lars Hornuf and Daniel Vrankar were awarded the Best Paper Award by the European Centre for Space Economy and Commerce (ECSECO) in the category "Space Business and Commerce". The award-winning paper which is available as a working paper on SSRN highlights the role of spillover effects from New Space companies in comparison to traditional aerospace companies.

Daniel Vrankar and Valentin Lindlacher at the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences

Valentin Lindlacher (Junior Professorship in Economics, esp. International Economic Policy) and Daniel Vrankar (Chair of Business Administration, esp. Finance and Financial Technology) took part in the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences from August 25-30, 2025. The conference offered a mix of thematic panels, lectures by Nobel Prize winners and presentations by young economists.

Add-on Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Science and Transfer of the Joachim Herz Foundation for Ann Sophie Lauterbach

Dr. Ann Sophie Lauterbach (Chair of Business Administration, esp. Organization and Management) has been awarded a €15,000 add-on fellowship from the Joachim Herz Foundation. The foundation is thus recognizing Ann Sophie's planned research projects on the psychological and economic dynamics of attendance and absence behaviour in the workplace.

EUTOPIA Summer School in Gothenburg

As part of the EUTOPIA program, the summer school "Sustainable Cities – Infrastructure Systems and Collaboration" took place in Gothenburg from August 25-29, 2025. Together with students from Gothenburg, Ca' Foscari University of Venice and TU Dresden, a total of 40 students took part in the international program. Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk and Prof. Dr. Dominik Möst were represented as lecturers.

International TUD excite Summer School in Hoyerswerda

This year's International TUD|excite Summer School took place at Hoyerswerda Castle from August 25-29, 2025 and, as in the previous year, was held under the motto "Patents in Search of New Business". Around 30 young scientists from Europe and India came together to develop new ideas at the interface of innovation, entrepreneurship and structural change.

In October, the BMWE-funded project Soffie - System Integration Offshore Wind Energy: Analysis of Key Decisions for a Resilient and Efficient Future Energy System started. "Administrative data is fun": TU Dresden research project investigates why people use the Dresden Open Data Portal

The city of Dresden makes a wealth of administrative data available free of charge and freely accessible via a so-called open data portal. The TU Dresden research project "Open Data for Citizens, Business and Administration" iaims to help optimize the portal and reach more people. The results of a survey on user behavior conducted by the Chairs of Business Information Systems of Prof. Dr. Susanne Strahringer and Prof. Dr. Martin Wiener are now available.

Further development of an innovative article allocation tool for distribution centers in cooperation with Kaufland

The Chair of Business Administration, esp. Industrial Management is looking forward to continuing its successful collaboration with Kaufland Stiftung & Co KG to develop an innovative item allocation tool. Based on a tool version from 2019, the tool is now to be adapted both to changing conditions in the supply chain and to further technical developments in warehouse logistics.

New publication on mathematical optimization in forestry

The Chair of Business Administration, esp. Industrial Management together with the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL (Birmensdorf), ETH Zurich and the University of Göttingen, published a publication in Scientific Reports that explains how a mathematical optimisation model can be used to support the sustainable management of Alpine forests under the conditions of climate change.

The welfare state is under considerable financial pressure, particularly as a result of the ageing population. Chancellor Merz recently announced painful cuts, but the specific form they will take is still unclear. In order to show which reform approaches are available and how they should be evaluated, an article was published by MDR Aktuell, for which Prof. Dr. Alexander Kemnitz (Chair of Economics, esp. Two doctoral students from the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Marketing, stood in in front of the camera for new 60 seconds on ... videos. Mariam Bellger explains how customers perceive chatbot errors and what companies can do to reduce negative reactions. Theres Rüger, on the other hand, addresses the question of how AI-supported chatbots can motivate people to behave in a more sustainable way.

50 years of diplomas: Golden diploma ceremonies at the faculty

For six years now, we have been regularly welcoming former seminar groups who successfully completed their studies in engineering economics at the faculty 50 years ago. Many of these groups have remained in contact with each other and with TU Dresden over the years and meet regularly to relive memories of their time as students in Dresden. On September 17, 2025, it was that time again, and we welcomed three groups to the Festsaal for a lecture and certificate presentation.

On September 19, 2025, the 9th Crowdinvesting Symposium, organized by the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Finance and Financial Technology at TU Dresden, was held at the Impact Hub Dresden. 2nd Conference on AI in Corporate Finance at TUD

On September 25–26, 2025, the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Finance and Financial Technology hosted the 2nd Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Corporate Finance in combination with a paper development workshop for a special issue in Finance Research Letters. The conference brought together leading scholars and early-career researchers to discuss how artificial intelligence is reshaping corporate finance research and practice.

UN-DAY 2025: Education Shapes the Future

Technology and natural sciences have a long tradition in Saxony. Nevertheless, there is still a gender imbalance in career choices in our region. Why is this the case? The UN Day 2025 in Dresden on October 24, 2025 will explore the question of how early the gender gap in so calles MINT subjects arises, what global differences exist, and how innovative teaching and learning formats can help overcome educational inequalities. Prof. Dr Christian Leßmann, Prof. Dr Edeltraud Günther and Prof. Dr Kamila Cygan-Rehm will discuss this topic in a panel discussion.

New Corporate Design and Webrefresh

In September, TU Dresden launched a corporate design and website refresh that visually reinterprets TUD's values and is currently the subject of heated debate. Such an extensive CD and web refresh cannot be implemented from one day to the next. Rather, it builds on the TUD branding process that began in 2023. Prof. Dr. Florian Siems from the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Marketing, was also involved in this process. In a video and in a short interview, he explains what is meant by terms such as brand value, brand essence, brand personality and how he experienced the branding process.

Renewal of PC pools

During the semester break, the computer lab was modernized. The PCs in the pools SCH A.200b and B.250 had to be replaced. A total of 31 new PCs were purchased and integrated into teaching. As part of the renovation, the use of the pools was also adapted: the former SCH B.250 pool can now be used as a student workroom. Starting in the winter semester 2025/2026, the opening and closing of the PC pools for courses will be handled via the transponders of the Chairs.
